Road trips are great adventures. Meeting both fellow travelers and locals along the way is more often than not connected to some eye-opening moments. Since 2016 we reserve two weeks each year to explore a new route. Typically this involves approximately 6000km of motorcycling, lots of nights in a tent and a wealth of new impressions.
At this point we would like to get you on board and turn our annual journeys into a fundraising event called ‘The Long Way’. This year we will ride through Italy and Croatia in between May 18th and June 3rd and for the first time we will be three riders instead of the usual two namely me Julius and Rita. The schedule is more or less free with the exception that we have to be in Bari on the 29th as we have to catch a ferry to Dubrovnik and further visiting Metalfest Openair in the Czech republic starting on the 1st of June.
We have some bookmarks (indicated by blue dots on the map) which we would like to see and some roads we would like to drive on. We will keep you updated with photos and impressions on my Facebook page and here as we go along. Any suggestions for scenic places and curvy roads in the vicinity of the current suggested road are highly appreciated. In addition once we leave Nuremberg if you happen to be somewhere around our location at any given time and would like to join is for a chat or even ride with us for a couple of days feel free to message me or join our event.
Now the important part we strongly believe that education and a supportive environment, especially in younger years, are the necessary foundation for every member of a healthy global society. One organization that provides such an environment to underprivileged children is SOS Children’s Villages. Active in 125 countries, they provide a loving family home for currently 1.5 million children, as well as schools, medical centers, and community support for vulnerable children and families. For this they get our votes and our donations. Especially, since they are very transparent about how they use the funds they receive. As we ride, we will donate 10% of what we spend on fuel to SOS Children’s Villages. To make a difference we want to encourage you to participate in this crowdfunding event and help us give chances to those that really need them. You don’t need to match those 10%, start with something you are comfortable with. The price of a beer at your favorite pub for example (it’s a bike trip after all). We have been told its a healthy choice.
As an encouragement: be one of the top 3 donors and receive a post card thanking you for your donation from a location along our way (Please drop us a message with an address). Additionally, you can track our progress at here and every contribution will be acknowledged on the website and the Facebook page of ‘The Long Way’
Donations will be accepted until the 4th of June 2018 and we would like you to know that all the funds donated will directly go to the charity in addition to any bonuses that the website could contribute with.
